Relativsätze mit who, which, that und whose
Relativpronomen
| Pronomen | bezieht sich auf | Beispiel |
|---|---|---|
| who | Personen | The girl who lives next door is my friend. |
| which | Dinge und Tiere | The book which I'm reading is exciting. |
| that | Personen und Dinge (in notwendigen Relativsätzen) | The film that we saw was great. |
| whose | Besitz (wessen) | That's the man whose car was stolen. |
Es steht kein Komma: The students who passed the test got a certificate.
My brother, who lives in Berlin, is a doctor.
Contact clauses
- The book (which) I bought is boring. (I ist das Subjekt, which ist Objekt: darf wegfallen.)
- The man who called me was rude.
Merksatz
who für Personen, which für Dinge, that in notwendigen Relativsätzen für beides, whose für Besitz. Kommas nur bei Zusatzinformationen. Ist das Relativpronomen Objekt, darf es wegfallen.
So sieht es in der Praxis aus
Beispiel 1
- Person: who
- notwendiger Relativsatz: kein Komma
Ergebnis This is the teacher who helped me with my project.
Beispiel 2
- Nach which folgt ein neues Subjekt (my mum).
- which ist Objekt: Es darf wegfallen.
Ergebnis The cake my mum made was delicious.
